Stefanie Steiger

Prof. Stefanie Steiger is a bioengineer and immunology researcher at LMU University Hospital Munich, where she leads a research group investigating how metabolic and microenvironmental signals regulate immune responses in kidney disease. Her research focuses on immunometabolism, inflammation and secondary immunodeficiency in chronic kidney disease, with particular interest in hyperuricaemia and its role in immune dysfunction and tissue injury. She received her PhD from the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research in New Zealand and completed her Habilitation at LMU Munich. Prof. Steiger is an Associate Editor of Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation and serves on the Board of the ERA Immunonephrology Working Group.
